Yoga in Schools

A K12 teacher for 5 years and a graduate of the Stanford Teacher Education Program, Adrian is an advocate for yoga and mindfulness in schools. Yoga and mindfulness can cultivate a range of essential social and emotional competencies, in particular the two critical skills that Harvard psychologist Daniel Goleman identifies as “self awareness” and “self management.” Developing Emotional Intelligence is particularly critical during the developmental time period of adolescence, which is precisely why contemplative practices such as yoga and mindfulness can so deeply enrich the lives of students.

In addition to having over 400 hours of Yoga Alliance approved teacher trainings, Adrian is currently enrolled in the Kripalu Yoga in the Schools Teacher Training program through the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, which offers targeted training in how to adapt yoga practices to adolescents based on changes in the teenage body and brain during the high school years.
